Point Hotel in Edinburgh

Point Hotel Homepage
interesting case of a hotel trying to do something different with the site and in that sense investing in it... at the same time as not investing in the hotel itself which is tired and has lost its iconoclastic edge of maybe five years ago.

Not easy to navigate, but the imagery makes a statement and has impact.

Hotel du Vin

Hotel du Vin has recently joined the Malmaison group. And doesnt the design say so. I think the design more suits the minimal chic of Malmaison hotels and much less the more roccoco Hotel du Vin which i always think of as slouchy - candles, old sofas, draping curtains.
I think this design is wrong as a result. Also the design is tired and so obviously formulaic for such a design led group of hotels.

Grey Street Hotel Newcastle

Grey Street Hotel in Newcastle
I am most struck by the typography of this site which seems deliberately cramped and off-putting for that. What i cannot work out, is what it means... ie what does it say about the hotel. Is it smarter, more chic?

I llok at the design and feel it is sub Malmaison style, lacking the finesse and refinement of the Malmaison site.

Dont like the logo either with its combination of Univers wide and georgia (i think)

Last thing: surprised to see in May that they are still offering Easter specials. Since Boutique is about attention to detail... this ain't good
